Tanggal 24 November 2020 lalu, event penghargaan Golden Joystick Awards 2020 akhirnya diadakan. Dari 20 kategori penghargaan, The Last of Us Part II dan developer Naughty Dog mendapatkan lima penghargaan. Tidak hanya itu, salah satu dari lima penghargaan tersebut adalah Ultimate Game of The Year.

Buat kamu yang belum tahu, Golden Joystick adalah sebutan lain untuk People’s Gaming Awards. Artinya tidak seperti The Game Awards yang melibatkan kritikus dan media game, pemilihan penghargaan Golden Joystick Awards ditentukan murni dari voting audiens. Artinya pemenang penghargaan murni ditentukan dari siapa yang mendapatkan suara terbanyak.

Karena murni dari voting audiens, penghargaan ini jelas bisa dianggap sebagai kontes popularitas. Tapi meskipun begitu harus diakui masing-masing game di atas, terutama The Last of Us Part II, punya penggemar yang mau meluangkan waktu untuk memberikan suaranya di penghargaan ini.
