Dalam acara Gamescom kemarin, sesuai dengan rumor yang beredar, Kadokawa mengumumkan kalau Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice resmi mendapatkan adaptasi anime. Bekerja sama dengan studi Qzil.la, projek ini bisa dibilang sangat ambisius. Qzil.la sekalu pihak studio mengatakan kalau mereka ingin membuat anime ini sebaik dan secantik mungkin.
Apa yang membuatnya lebih mengejutkan adalah bagaimana cara anime ini dibuat. Menurut penjelasan yang diberikan, anime Sekiro ini dibuat 100% menggunakan cara tradisional, alias digambar menggunakan tangan secara manual. Teknik yang untuk sekarang sudah sangat jarang ditemui, mengingat perkembangan teknologi, termasuk AI.

Berbicara tentang AI, hal ini sempat dikhawatirkan oleh banyak orang, tapi kabar baiknya pihak studio langsung memberikan respon. Dalam postingan yang diberikan kepada IGN, Qzil.la menjelaskan kalau pembuatan anime Sekiro ini tidak menggunakan AI. Semua yang kalian lihat nanti akan digambar menggunakan tangan para animatornya.
“Semua adaptasi anime ini dibuat menggunakan cara gambar tangan secara 2D dari tim yang berbakat di Qzil.la, ARCH dan Kadokawa. Kita bisa mengkonfirmasi tidak ada AI yang digunakan dalam pembuatan dan produksi anime ini. Para fans bisa menantikan kualitas yang presisi dari para artist yang sesuai dengan gamenya, yang sekarang dibuat dengan medium baru,” jelas Qzil.la lewat Twitter.
Berjudul resmi Sekiro: No Defeat, anime ini akan menjadi adaptasi game souls dari FromSoftware, Sekiro. Tidak akan membawa cerita original, karena dari semua trailer yang diperlihatkan kemarin, cerita utamanya masih sama dengan versi game. Walaupun belum ada tanggal rilisnya kapan, tapi anime ini ditargetkan untuk rilis tahun 2026 mendatang.
